PITZMANN II
When visiting another country, the local climate, culture, cuisine, and many different factors gift you an exotic experience. Enjoying various watches sometimes makes you feel as if you are on a travel. The Pitzmann II is a unique and exotic attraction where the explorers of the world of timepieces are worth visiting.
Pitzmann Watches was established in Seoul, Korea in East Asia. Initially, we wanted to express the 'Korean' identity in Pitzmann's new model. Pitzmann, at the same time, was also aware not to overwhelm it with "Asian Characteristics," such as traditional patterns, which perhaps can be mistaken for a souvenir-shop watch. As the outcome, we subtly blend the beauty of Korea through its famous series of curves and straight lines into a modern timepiece. Korea's gorgeous use of curves and lines are seen in traditional architecture, art, and outfit, which provided peace and relaxation to the mind and body of many individuals over centuries. Here we present the Korean classic.
CASE
The truth is the wristwatch is not one of the many wonderful legacies of Asian culture. Thus, the First Pitzmann inherited or maintained the formula for traditional watch designs from Western culture. Whereas we creatively applied Korean identity to the Pitzmann II. The shape of the case, the lugs, and the texture coming from the overall design create an exotic timepiece.
The case of the Pitzmann II was inspired by ‘GIWA’, the traditional Korean roofing tile. GIWA roof tiles are a series of cycloids with beautiful curves. You may find similar roofing techniques are commonly shared in Asian culture; however, they all have their own distinct features showing originality. Calming curves of the GIWA were inspirational; its characteristic was dissolved into the Pitzmann II. Detailedly intended shapes and angles of continuous curves from the glass, the bezel, then to the case present peace and calming appearance.
Dial (Indices)and Hands
Pitzmann's priority in dial design is tidy and well-balanced elements, as it will become the most valuable element; the more the watch sits on your wrist.
The subtle level change between the inner and the outer circle of the dial allowed adding an enjoyable sense of dimension and avoiding monotony. Raised indices flaunt a strong impression in the space between the glass and the dial.
The mirror-polished facets of indices offer stunning shimmer under the light. Dynamic interaction between the light and the shadow makes it an elegant timepiece. The impression of the GIWA-shape once again applied here.
The hands of Pitzmann II are broader and thicker than hands generally used in other watches. Hence, similar to the indices, Pitzmann was able to facilitate glistening sharp-edged facets on the hands. The blunted tip satisfyingly aligns with the markers. The length and width were carefully weighed, contemplating how they appear on the dial. As you constantly observe hands-indices eclipses, you will be able to confirm Pitzmann's sincerity for detailed dial-designing.
Sometimes you have to turn off lights to see the light. Hands and indices are coated in white Super-LumiNova, guiding you in the dark.
