the birth of Watchmaking

The First Pitzmann brings back the memory of the turning point from the pocket watches to the wrist watches.

Humankind's efforts to accurate time telling began a long time ago. In the 'Assemblywomen' by Aristophanes, one of the greatest representatives of ancient Greek comedy-writers, there is a line saying: "When the shadow's ten feet long, then quickly be it thine… at supper to recline." A man's body was used as the pointer on a sundial.

The sundials were relatively easy to make and resulted fairly accurate time telling. Hence, they were popularly used until the 17th century. Different types of time devices, such as a candle timer and a sand clock, were also invented. Although, the Clepsydra, or a water clock, was the most accurate ancient watch compared to the others. The word "clepsydra" comes from the Greek meaning 'water thief'. It was the most accurate way of telling time until the mechanical clocks were introduced.

The development of the steel industry made it possible to miniaturize the mainspring in clocks, which increased the demand for household and portable clocks. Just like what happened to phone booths and mobile phones. The timepieces in the 17th century showed an error of 500 seconds a day. Thanks to countless hours spend in the name of passion for horology, the error was limited to 10 seconds a day throughout the 18th century. By using a spring as the main power source and improved regulating mechanism, the movements were not much different from the accuracy of today's. It was a major breakthrough that lead to the birth of the pocket watch. The pocket watch became smaller then strapped on a wrist to check time faster, making a watch into what it is today.

Pitzmann reinterpreted the moment of transition between the pocket watch and the wristwatch via modern vibe and technology.

Three-hands are perceived as the 'standard watch' nowadays. A small-second watch is often misinterpreted as only a classical dress watch. Pitzmann says "NO" to the stereotypes and breaks the mold. The small-second watch was not only used in the thick of a battle, but also as a daily watch. It should not be limited to one purpose only, as it has full of potential to be used in a wide spectrum. Since it is almost exclusively made by luxury-watch companies, you will have to pay an astronomical price for one. Pitzmann proudly launched a small-second watch with a reasonable price, a flawless design, as well as excellent materials, and high standard quality control that you cannot find in this price range.
